A message on crime prevention involving vandalism by

Corporal Lim from Victoria Neighbourhood Police Post

Hi to all residents, due to the recent cases of vandalism, here is an advice on how to prevent vandalism in the car parks

  • Always park your car in a well-lit area and ensure that the car park lights are in working condition

  • Push the side mirrors towards the door as well as to put the car antennae down as to prevent unwanted attraction

  • Ensure that the car park does not have any obstructing artifacts or large items that are unnecessary as to minimize hiding spots for those who want to vandalize

  • Install a car alarm in your car

  • Develop a Neighborhood Watch system.

  • Report vandalism to the police.

Please contact me if you see any cases of vandalism and Let's work with each other to get rid of this crime

Always remember Low Crime Does Not Mean No Crime

National Day Parade 2009

National Day Parade 2009

It has been 5 years since I participate in the NDP Parade. I consider myself to be an NDP veteran. My first participation was with the 3rd Battalion Singapore Guards contingent. Although the training was quite tough but we really enjoyed the moments together as a unit and we were proud to be standing alongside with the other contingents especially we were behind the Guard of Honour.

After I ORD I went on to become a motivator in my ITE College East. It was really fun blending in with the crowd and to motivate them. I was even the lead usher being driven in the Mercedes into the stadium, I feel like a President as I step out of the car and then cheering the crowd. As a motivator we also learn how to make balloons and giving it to young children and other people. We also had to do the dance. The dance was quite fun. I made many new friends during my days as a motivator back in 2006.

Then in 2007 till present I joined the People's Association in the Mass Display Group. It was quite different from being a motivator as PA has all kinds of people of different races performing in one single event. Our boss Mr Tay is really quite a good person who takes care of his performers welfare. At People's Association we are often given buffet meals, ice-creams and durians. I am proud to say that People's Association is the best performing group in the whole show as we are full of energy, determination and passion initiated by people of different races and age performing together. At end of the show every year, we will always get a chance to see fireworks up close and personal. ''

So far NDP has always been an inspiring moment for me because I can get the chance to celebrate this greatest event with people from all over Singapore and now that it is getting difficult to get the tickets to the biggest show in Singapore, I feel lucky I have the chance to represent Singapore. I have been watching NDP shows since 1986 and I enjoyed the performances by the military, the awesome helicopters and jets as well as performance from other groups. I still remember the time when we queue up for the tickets from 1994 - 2002. I will be usually be the first one in the queue who is willing to wait 2 days in advance before they give out the ticket. It was really great to be the first one in front as the newspaper reporters would interview the front people. In fact back in July 2000 I was interviewed by the press about how I felt when I get the tickets and why I was willing to wait 2 days in advance just to get it. Gosh! I really miss those times.

I intent to continue joining the NDP as long as I can because I am proud of what Singapore has achieved during the last 44 years and may the country continue to prosper always. I really feel good and a sense of pride when performing in front of 27 000 spectators and 4 million Singaporeans watching the National Day Parade show. The feeling is quite different from being just a spectator and I can feel that I am part of the big show by performing on that Marina Bay Plaform. Happy 44th birthday Singapore!!!
